Ramsgate to London Charing Cross Station - 10th May 2014
Film and Editing: Fae Harmer / Soundscape: Nathan Harmer
The second instalment of Resting Place involved creating a soundscape on a moving train from Ramsgate, followed by a live performance in London Charing Cross train station in the middle of the concourse. Although many people came specifically for the performance, a larger proportion of the captivated audience were passing commuters.
The reaction to this performance was extraordinary
This 3-minute video blends the live performance soundscape, recorded live capturing the magnetic sounds generated throughout the carriage, which is imperceptible to the human ear, and the performance journey to Charing Cross.
Platform-7 would like to extend a huge thanks to Sonia Moulson, Barbara Thomas and Ed Hill from Southeastern and Lydia Fenny from Network Rail and all the employees at both organisations who contributed in creating this work.

The Silence of Displacement
Focussing on themes of mindfulness and the experience of non-place, the piece used electro-magnetic signals and the acoustic sounds from the train as live input to produce a meditative soundscape which was mixed, manipulated and diffused throughout the journey.
